Environmental Benchmarks

The award-winning Environmental Standards were developed in response to a need for a property specific approach to environmental management which focuses on environmental improvement.

The Green Standard is set as ‘Good practice’, mainly concentrating on high performance in terms of environmental management and achievable by most centres with little if no capital costs. The Green Standard requires the setting up of clear and effective management processes.

The Gold Standard sets ‘Best practice’, looking at a more specific reduction of environmental impacts. It sets high levels of environmental performance across all areas in addition to the Green Standard requirements.

The Standards are supported by an environmental management manual which provides building and centre managers with the resources to implement environmental management.
